GEBO specified on new Clipper RX ocean racing yacht
GEBO hatches and portlights have been specified for the new Clipper RX, a 72ft ocean racing yacht developed for the next generation of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

The Clipper RX has been designed as a matched fleet of 12 yachts that will enter service for the 15th edition of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, scheduled to begin in late summer 2027. The project draws on more than three decades of global offshore racing experience, with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability and consistent performance.
The yacht’s concept was developed by renowned naval architect Nigel Irens, working in collaboration with Fish Marine Design. Together, they have created a fast yet seaworthy platform capable of performing efficiently across a wide range of ocean conditions while prioritising crew protection and operational robustness.
Key design features of the Clipper RX include a distinctive dreadnought bow, a wider foredeck to improve working space forward, and enhanced crew protection through the use of deck cuddies. The yacht is also equipped with transom-hung rudders, contributing to balanced handling and control. The overall design delivers versatile performance both upwind and downwind, without compromising safety or durability.
The Clipper RX is supported by a best-in-class marine supply chain, bringing together long-standing industry partners whose equipment has been proven over many years of Clipper Race competition. Alongside GEBO, suppliers include Stalok Terminals, Marlow Ropes, Hyde Sails, Antal, Sparcraft, Aquafax Marine, Ocean Safety and Coppercoat UK.
With construction and specification decisions informed by extensive offshore race experience, the Clipper RX represents a significant step forward in one-design ocean racing yachts, combining modern design solutions with trusted marine equipment for one of the world’s most demanding sailing events.
