The Power Rib
ANDERSEN do things differently for a reason. The Power Rib© is unique to ANDERSEN Winches©, and this is one of the reasons why ANDERSEN Winches have gained the reputation as the world’s best. Our winches are easy on sheets and halyards, thus extending their lifetime and saving money and work. With very low vertical friction, the sheet slides easily upwards, ensuring safe functioning when sailing. The Power Rib runs parallel to the rope movement up the drum, and the drum areas between the Power Ribs are polished. This allows the drum to easily push the turn upwards from below, thus preventing riding turns. The grip allows for reduced number of turns on the winch, making handling – such as tacking — significantly easier.
ANDERSEN Winches are self-adjusting and allow you to use a variety of sheets and halyards on the same winch — without compromising safety and reliability. The height and shape of the Power Rib is individually adapted to
each winch in order to optimize the grip in relation to the load.
