What is the difference between a reefing system and a furler for a flying sail?
A headsail reefing system fitsover and revolves around the stay. The aluminium foil transmits the rotation, developed by the drum and reefs the sail, allowing the sail to be optimised in size, to suit the current wind conditions.
A furling system fully deploys the sail or furls it away. The sail is fully in or fully out.

What is the difference between a structural stay furler and a furler?
A structural stay furler is a rotating Kevlar or modern fibre forestay with the drum and head swivel incorporated within its length. Apart from the furling action, it acts as a forestay to hold the mast in place.
Profurl NEC ST Stayfurlers
A Profurl NEC ST becomes the obvious answer to replace a conventional stay and a reefing-furling system. A special anti twist Kevlar is permently attached to the drum and to the head swivel. By revolving the drum, the Kevlar stay transmits the rotation to the head swivel. The middlesection of the sail luff is driven to furl evenly.
