EC - Furler with Drum

ec390_390

Developed and enhanced over 15 years, Profurl furlers allow handling from the safety of the cockpit with light or heavy sails. With a single line and drum the EC systems are similar in style to conventional headstay systems.

Profurl advantages:

  • The sail is ready to use at any time, quick to hoist, unfurl, sail and furl.
  • The sail is hoisted and dropped, furled around the soft luff and easily handled with minimum windage.
  • Continuous or single line systems
  • Reduced weight a loft ( a halyard is much lighter than a SS wire)
  • Maintenance free

Stayfurler Systems - NEC ST

What is the difference between a reefing system and a furler for a flying sail?

A headsail reefing system fitsover and revolves around the stay. The aluminium foil transmits the rotation, developed by the drum and reefs the sail, allowing the sail to be optimised in size, to suit the current wind conditions.

A furling system fully deploys the sail or furls it away. The sail is fully in or fully out.

As per the flying sail furlers, a stayfurler enables the yacht to sail with the sail either fully unfurled or furled and does not allow the yacht to sail with a partially furled sail. As per a furling system, the stayfurler acts as a forestay to hold the mast in place. Unlike the standard forestay furler systems the stayfurler’s Aramid/PBO torque cable does not require the extra weight of alloy extrusions.

The NEC ST models are available with either a single line drum or a continuous line spool.

  • Drum mechanism with spool and continuous line.
  • Optimized overall dimensions of the components.
  • Maximum luff length.
  • Important weight savings.
  • The continuous line can not jump off the drum.
  • Large diameter of the drum mechanism for an easier use.
  • Different terminal available (eye, 2:1 and 3:1 halyard blocks).
